Hands-Free and wake word

This guide describes the tagged tester build.

Hands-Free is a persistent combined dictation-and-command session. The wake listener is an activation layer that normally opens one short command window. They are not the same setting.

Hands-Free

1. Open Settings → Modes.
2. Under Hands-Free / Voice Control, turn on Enable voice control.
3. Set Button behavior to toggle, then press the configured Voice control button to start or end the persistent session.
4. Say “dictate mode” to enter the Dictate lane, “command mode” for the command lane, or “ava mode” for Ava when it is configured.
5. In Dictate, say “finish” alone to paste the staged thought and remain in the session. Say “go to sleep”, “samsara sleep”, or “sleep now” alone to leave it; the staged draft is kept.

In a Hands-Free session, normal dictation and exact command phrases are handled differently. Read the command reference to see the phrases shipped in this build.

Wake listener

Wake listening is off by default. Turn it on in Settings → Modes → Enable wake activation. The default wake phrase is “Jarvis”, and the default Wake activation key is Ctrl+Alt+W.

When wake listening is enabled, say the phrase and then a command. By default, Samsara waits up to five seconds for the command after the phrase. A wake command does not change the active recording mode.
